Star Ferry

The Star Ferry is definitely a popular attraction in Hong Kong. Tourists who visit the island of Hong Kong have to take a ride on the Star Ferry because this is the best way to see the city. The Star Ferry has been running in Hong Kong for almost 100 years. In fact, this transport vehicle has a relevant role in the history of Hong Kong because it has witnessed some important changes in the island during the last years.

Star Ferry Hong Kong This emblematic symbol of Hong Kong was inaugurated in 1898 approximately and since then, the vehicle has become the favorite way of transportation for locals and tourists. There are several operating Ferries in Hong Kong nowadays. Each one of them includes the word Star next to their own names. As an example we can mention: the Night Star, The Gold Star, The Heaven Star and the Morning Star.

The Star ferries are completely modern, comfortable, spacious and affordable. It only takes ten minutes to travel around the entire Victoria Harbor. Even though the majority of the tours on a ferry are performed in the morning, it is recommended to also take one in the evening in order to enjoy the warm sea breeze and the beautiful illumination of the harbour. In addition, spending the night on a ferry is perfect for lovers who want to have a romantic night at the sea.

The fee that travelers have to pay is HK$3 (USD 40 cents) on holidays and weekends. The principal routes of the ferries are basically four. The first one starts from Wan Chai to Tsim Sha Tsui, the second one starts from Tsim Sha Tsui to Central, the third one starts from Central to Hung Hom and the fourth one starts from Hung Hom to Wan Chai. Almost the majority of routes take about fifteen minutes for one place to another.
