Museum of History

Museum of History - Hong Kong The Hong Kong Museum of History is located in Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui since 1998. It covers an area of 17,500 square meters of a state-of-the-art facility revamped by the Hong Kong SAR Government. The history museum and the adjacent Science Museum form a harmonious complex of colorful arrays.

The Hong Kong Museum of history is in charge of the following branch museums:
  • The Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defense in Shau Kei Wan
  • The Lei Cheng UK Han Tomb Museum in Sham Shui Po
  • The Law Up Folk Museum in Chai Wan
  • Dr. Sun Yat-sen Museum in Mid-levels, Central
  • The Fireboat Alexander Grantham Exhibition Gallery in the Quarry Bay Park
Visiting information

  • The Galleries open:

    • On weekdays and Saturdays: from 10am to 6pm
    • On Sundays and public holidays: from 10am to 7pm
    • On Christmas Eve and Lunar New Year's Eve until 5pm

  • The Galleries close:

    • On Tuesdays that are not public holidays
    • On the first two days of the Chinese New Year

  • The Resource Center opens:

    • On weekdays: from 9:30am to 12:30pm and from 2:30pm to 5pm
    • On Saturdays: from 9:30am to 12noon

  • The Resource Center closes:

    • On Saturdays afternoons
    • On Sundays and public holidays

  • The museum is located in 100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui Kowloon, Hong Kong (next to the Hong Kong Science Museum).

  • Admission prices: (Hong Kong Dollars)

    • Standard Ticket: $10
    • Groups (more than 20 people): $7
    • Fulltime students: $5
    • People with disabilities: $5
    • Elderly (above 60 years old): $5

  • Admission is free on Wednesdays unless special exhibitions are organized.
